There are many stories about dogs’ loyalty to their caregivers. In some cases, the fur noses even stay near the grave of their deceased person.

Canelo in Cadiz
Canelo was a dog that lived in the Spanish city of Cádiz in the 1980s. The loyal animal accompanied his caregiver to the hospital once a week for several years , where he went for dialysis. There he waited obediently for his master in front of the door.
One day his human died due to complications during treatment. Canelo waited for his person in front of the hospital gates for 12 years.
He never moved from there again. The neighbors brought him food and water because he won the love of all who heard his story. Canelo is without a doubt one of the most loyal dogs of all time.
Bobby in Edinburgh
Bobby was a terrier who lived in the middle of the 19th century. His caregiver was a police officer from Edinburgh, Scotland, and the two spent the entire time together. One day the lawman suddenly died of tuberculosis.
Bobby accompanied the funeral procession all the way to the cemetery. He stayed there for another 14 years at the grave of his person, until death himself redeemed him. The people who lived nearby fed him and offered him shelter in winter.
So this fur nose became a true legend that was loved and admired by everyone.
Guacho in Uruguay
Guacho was a four-legged friend who lived in Uruguay, South America, in the 1960s and is also considered a classic example of dog loyalty.
One day his caregiver fell ill and was taken to a hospital 50 km from home.
Guacho was left alone and was therefore very sad. He just couldn’t come to terms with his new situation and therefore decided to go in search of his human being.
His journey took him through rivers and moors until he finally found the hospital where his master was staying.
There he stayed and waited for his human being in front of the gates. The hospital staff and neighbors admired the animal for its loyalty and fed it.
When his human finally died, the fur nose let out a howl that shook the marrow and bone.
Then the four-legged friend accompanied his deceased person to the cemetery, where they were buried.
There he stayed by the side of the tomb for another 30 days. He then went to the village to look for food, but returned to the grave every evening to sleep.
Collie in Argentina
Collie is also considered to be one of the most loyal dogs in history. After his caregiver died, he accompanied him to the La Piedad cemetery in the Argentine city of Rosario. That evening he slept on his human’s grave.
The next morning the family of the deceased was looking for him, but Collie did not want to move from the grave. So people waited a few days and finally came back with a leash.
But even that was of no use, because the animal stubbornly refused to leave its human. It stayed there for five years.
Fido in Italy
Fido lived in a small Italian village in the late 1930s. His reference person was a young man named Luigi who worked in a nearby carpenter’s shop.
To get to his place of work, he took the train every day. Fido accompanied him to the train station every morning and there waited patiently for his return.
In 1943 Luigi was sent to the war on the Russian front, but his loyal four-legged friend continued to wait for his return every afternoon at the train station. Hopefully he looked for his person among the passengers who got off.
Unfortunately, Luigi never came back and Fido waited a full seven years until he died himself.
