Chocolate contains theobromine, an alkaloid that stimulates the central nervous system,  widening the bronchi, and also affects the cardiovascular system.

Theobromine is poorly broken down in dogs, so even small amounts can be poison for dogs, with puppies and young dogs being particularly at risk.

This damages the liver and red blood cells, which could lead to liver necrosis. Even a small dose can have serious consequences. Experts warn that two tablets could be fatal.

Detergents and fabric softeners are poisonous to dogs

Poisoning can manifest as hypersalivation (excessive saliva production), lethargy, vomiting, burns in the mouth, seizures, shock, or coma.
