Not only does he share his apartment with several cats, the famous Spanish singer Joaquin Sabina  has also dedicated several poems, paintings and verses of his songs to the velvet paws. That’s why we would like to tell you about Joaquin Sabina  and his cats today  .

The singer and his velvet paws

“If you go, then I’ll steal away over the roof / like a stray cat” sings Sabina in one of his most famous songs. But he himself has already offered a home to several cats. He lives with more than half a dozen in his apartment in Madrid. They include:

  • Elvis
  • Judas Tadeo
  • Margot
  • Rojo
  • Lolo
  • Demon
  • Margarito

In his songs he often philosophizes about the brazen and stray life of the street cats, but in reality he and his velvet paws are doing pretty well in their home in the Spanish capital.

For example, he sings in another song “like a hot hangover / I roam the streets of the city / looking for a kitty / at this late hour / the bars are almost all closed / when the soul needs a body / that she can stroke ”.

The relationship between artists and cats has a lot of history. Today, however, we would like to tell you about the special connection that Joaquin Sabina feels with cats. He expresses his love for cats through songs, poems and paintings.

An artist who merges completely with the cat

In a poem about the war in Iraq, he wrote, “Cat shit for the colonel who kills!” He’ll already know why he wanted the military to question it.

In other poems he shows how much he identifies with cats.  He writes: “They don’t listen to masters / the cats / but they know / that the gods / are fallen angels.”

It is thus also cats painting by this artist avid. Even a book in which 66 of his pictures are collected, accompanied by texts by the artist, has been published. Of course, the kitties are not missing!

Some concluding remarks on poetry

If the man of your dreams told you, “keep the balcony of your cat’s eyes open for me,” how would you react? We find quite a bit of flattery. Both we and Sabina are simply cat lovers. But there is more.

“Before you love me the way you love a cat / I’d rather move on with someone else / who is like you,” he threatens in another song. But we’re not so sure what he’s actually trying to tell us. These verses actually mean nothing to his own cat friends.

We at your animals believe that many people want to be loved the way Sabina loves his cats.  But he also knows very well that he can always count on her:

“I’ll end up like an old woman / talking to her cats,” he predicts on his latest record. We’re sure he knows what he’s talking about.
