Pancho, The Most Famous Spanish Television Dog Has Died

Many television dogs have delighted us and made pleasant memories possible. We will never forget them, so today we want to show them our admiration.

If you don’t live in Spain, you probably don’t know Pancho, a famous Jack Russel. But this television dog has accompanied a large part of the population of Spain through part of their childhood. Pancho was an actor and has also shot various commercials. 

Pancho reached the proud age of 16 and has earned this article as a small honor for his television career. We would therefore like to tell you more about this loving, funny animal and also about other television dogs.

His name was actually Cook, but he became known as Pancho to the television audience. He became known through a commercial for the Spanish lottery company  in which he stole his master’s lottery ticket and made a million profit. The spot also showed how the dog spent the money: it traveled all over the world! You could see him in a sun hat in a hammock in the Maldives and in a fur cap in Moscow.

The advertisement was very funny and Pancho had done a good job. Many viewers even began to bet which destination Pancho should be next.
This is how the dog became famous. Different TV channels wanted him for different roles, but now Pancho could choose his best actor roles.
His first film was titled “Pancho the Millionaire Dog”. This children’s film continued the story of the commercial that made Pancho famous. A huge success for young and old.
Then Pancho played a role in the well-known television series “Aquí no hay quien viva” (Nobody can stand it here).  He played the dog of a romantic older woman  who was still looking for the love of life, even if she claims that her sister stole it from her.
In this series, Pancho was always in the middle of the old lady’s quarrels  and was used by the neighbors to blackmail his mistress and to demand a ransom from her. A fun series made even more entertaining by Pancho.
However, on May 19, 2016, the TV dog  Pancho died at the age of 16. This beautiful Jack Russel had captured the hearts of all Spaniards. But they now have it in their hearts, because it was part of their childhood and will therefore remain in their memory forever.

But Pancho wasn’t the only TV dog that many still admire. In other countries, too, various four-legged actors have sneaked into the lives of many viewers.

  • Lassie. Who can not remember the beautiful female collie who made us all cry and laugh?
  • Frank. This French Bulldog starred in the X-Men film series.
  • Hachiko . The beautiful Alaskan Malamute made us cry until the end of his days with his boundless loyalty.
  • Beethoven. In the film of the same name, the little Saint Bernard drew an honest laugh from all of us through his pranks with his young friends. A nice childhood memory.
  • Rex. The imposing German shepherd was a police dog and amazed us with his intelligence in the series “Rex”.
  • Marley. The amusing film with the leading actress Jennifer Aniston and the title “Marley and I” tells of a couple with a naughty dog.
