Black amber or Gagat or Jett is often used for jewelry because the deep black, shiny color of this fossil wood is particularly beautiful. The beauty of black dogs  is indescribable, but they are not as popular as four-legged friends of different colors.

The “Black Dog Project”  aims to capture the natural beauty of these animals and make the viewer aware of them.

Because black dogs or cats find a new home less often than animals with other colors. Superstition is certainly one of the reasons. But like black amber, black dogs are also real gems.

We started this project when we discovered that black dogs take longer to be adopted because of their color.

Many photos capture the beauty of black dogs along with their owners who take pride in the color of their pets. The color of the eyes and the shine of the fur stand out particularly and contrast with the owner’s clothes.

Black cat, black dog?

Unfortunately, many people seem to think that black pets bring bad luck. Shelters do not disclose any information about animals that were not adopted because of their color. But it is clear that black dogs take the longest to find a new home.

The color of the fur has nothing to do with the character or personality of the animal. They are true pieces of jewelry, regardless of the color of their fur. Dogs love their owners more than anything, regardless of whether they are fat, large, small or ugly. They don’t judge your appearance, they accept you for who you are and are loyal to you.

Cat is afraid of black dogs

Stanley Coren carried out a study on the unconscious influence that the color of an animal has on us. He wanted to show that many react differently to black dogs than to dogs of a different color.

60 participants were shown photos of different dog breeds. Affection was generally greater for images of a Golden Retriever than for a Black Retriever. Even in animals of the same breed, where only the color of the fur was different, the reactions were different
